UNIZIK Expels Female Student For Assaulting, Biting Lecturer Over TikTok Video

Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, a student at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU), was dismissed by the university’s administration for attacking a lecturer in the Department of Theatre and Film Studies.

On Friday, Victor Modebelu, the Acting Registrar, made this announcement in a statement. According to him, the Student Disciplinary Committee’s report on the student’s attack on a theater and film studies lecturer had been given to the Acting Vice-Chancellor.

The letter read, “The Ag. Vice-Chancellor has received the report from the Student Disciplinary Committee on the case of your assault on a lecturer from the Department of Theater and Film Studies, which was found to be a gross misconduct and violation of the Students Disciplinary Regulations, particularly Regulation 4 (SDR).“Consequently, the Ag. Vice-Chancellor has, on behalf of the University Senate, approved the Committee’s recommendation that you be expelled and you are hereby expelled from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. The expulsion takes immediate effect.

You are expected to vacate the University premises immediately and return any University property in your possession.”

Modebelu said the decision was in accordance with the Student Disciplinary Committee’s recommendation, which concluded that the student’s behavior was a flagrant breach of Regulation 4 (SDR), one of the institution’s disciplinary rules.

Background Of The Incident

The altercation started when the lecturer interrupted a video recording the student was making because the student was blocking the way to a lecture room, leading to a heated argument that escalated into a physical fight.
