Osato Edobor, a student nurse at Delta State College of Nursing Sciences, has been issued a disciplinary query for allegedly recording and sharing an “unauthorized” video on social media during Nigeria’s First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s visit to Delta State.
The incident happened while the students were getting ready to greet the First Lady. The MC of the occasion led a chant in which she sang, “Na our mama be this, we nor get another,” referring to Mrs. Tinubu.
But the students’ response was different: “Na your mama be this” After the video went viral, social media users had differing opinions about it. Some defended the students’ response, while others called it disrespectful.
On Friday, journalist Oseni Rufai of Arise New shared a photo of a letter that was sent to Edobor via X.
The letter stated. βThis is a punishable offence as enshrined in the Student Handbook under standardised disciplinary action for some punishable offences No. 8, Page 21,β
UPDATE: The letter has now been withdrawn.
