During the 27th Globe Soccer Dubai Awards in Dubai, Cristiano Ronaldo made a shocking remark on the most recent Ballond’Or and publicly criticized its organizers for unfairly denying Vinicius Jr. the honor.
At the event Ronaldo stated “Vinicius Jr should have won the Ballon d’Or, in my opinion it was clear”. “It was unfair. This is why I love Globe Soccer Awards, they are honest”.
Remember how Rodri, a midfielder for Manchester City, won the prize in October, knocking off the favorite Vinicius Jr. who came second. The global football community responded to this in a variety of ways.
Some are of the view that Rodriguez who helped City to a 4th straight Premier League title and Spain to Euro 2024 deserved the award while the rest are of the same view with Cristiano. Vinicius guided Madrid to a record-extending 15th Champions League.
In an interview, Vinicius Jr said “Cristiano Ronaldo’s words about the Ballon d’Or? If Cristiano said I’m the best, then I am!”.
He won the Best Men’s player and Best Forward at the Globe Soccer Awards.
