He scored a late double after coming off the bench to cut the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool to four points.
Mikel Arteta’s team was having trouble coming up with a way to beat a resolute home team until Merino came on after 69 minutes to turn a gloomy match around.
On 81 minutes, the Spain international scored a spectacular header from a cross by Ethan Nwaneri. Six minutes later, he perfectly timed his move to sweep home a cross from Leandro Trossard to seal the victory.

Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s Leicester City, meanwhile, have now lost 21 straight games across all competitions and are eighteenth in the standings, two points clear of Wolves and their hopes of avoiding relegation.
