Liverpool came from behind to clinch a 2-2 draw away at Aston Villa, putting them eight points ahead of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League.
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s equalizer in the second half was necessary for the Premier League leaders Liverpool to earn a point at the Villa Park.
Mohamed Salah’s goal in the 28th minute gave Liverpool the lead, but goals from Youri Tielemans and Ollie Watkins gave Villa the victory just before halftime.
Liverpool’s Diogo Jota hit the crossbar following the interval, but Alexander-Arnold’s deflected effort tied the score. Darwin Nunez, a substitute, had a fantastic opportunity to put Liverpool back up, and Villa came very close in stoppage time when Donyell Malen’s attempt went wide.
Arne Slot’s team is still leading in the title race. The outcome of the match was scarcely detrimental, but it will give pursuing Arsenal hope because they now have a game in hand.
