According to reports, a couple in the state capital of Ekiti, Ado-Ekiti, killed themselves over accusations of infidelity.
The event took place on Tuesday morning in the Odo Ado neighborhood of the state capital, near Igirigiri Road.
According to information obtained, the wife of the deceased husband—Caleb, who is reportedly a state police officer—accused him of adultery.
Before Tuesday’s tragedy, the couple, who had four children, have been having marital misunderstandings over accusations of infidelity.”
Thus, the altercation between them on Tuesday morning led to the fight that took their lives.
It was reported that the wife attacked the man first by using a knife to cut husband’s manhood and the man in his pool of blood struggled to machete the wife to death.
At that point, there was nothing that neighbors or bystanders could do, and they both died instantly.
When contacted, SP Abutu Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), verified the occurrence and stated that “an investigation has begun to determine the true cause of their death”.
While the inquiry is ongoing, the couple’s bodies have been placed in the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital morgue.
