The Taraba State University (TSU) community has been thrown into grief after the lifeless body of a first-year student was discovered in her boyfriend’s residence in the Bakasi area of Jalingo.

The deceased, identified as Comfort Jimtop Oliver, was a 100-level Mass Communication student from Takum Local Government Area. According to reports, her body was found around 2 p.m. in the home of a man identified only as Emmanuel, said to be her boyfriend.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Taraba State Police Command, ASP James Lashen Saminu, revealed that investigators recovered a bottle containing an unknown chemical substance as well as an used condom at the scene.
While the exact circumstances surrounding Comfort’s death remain unclear, authorities say a full investigation is underway to determine what truly happened.
Attempts to reach the university’s spokesperson were unsuccessful at the time of reporting. However, staff members who spoke on the matter confirmed the tragedy and assured that the institution is working closely with security agencies.
They further stressed that both the school and the police are committed to ensuring that no stone is left unturned in uncovering the truth behind Comfort’s untimely death.
