In the Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State, a concerted operation against Lakurawa terrorists has resulted in the deaths of five troops.
This was revealed in a statement released on Thursday by Lt Col Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator, Joint Media Coordination Center, Operation Fansan Yamma.
The statement read “Despite this success, the operation came at a heavy cost, as five gallant soldiers tragically lost their lives in the line of duty.”
According to him, the mission resulted in a fierce shootout during which members of the Defense Headquarters Special Operations Brigade also killed six terrorists.
During the raid, troops found four AK-47 rifles, one box of 12.7mm ammo, and 160 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
Additionally, the military urged the public to stay watchful and aware in their communities and to notify security services of any suspicious activity pertaining to terrorism or security threats in Gudu LGA and the adjacent areas.
