According to reports, the grey Toyota bus with registration number KJA 851 YH was carrying 25 passengers when one of its tyres suddenly burst. The driver lost control, causing the vehicle to somersault several times.

Spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed that the bus had a mix of passengers onboard – seven male adults, 11 female adults, two male children, and five female children. Sadly, six people did not survive the crash, including the driver. Among the victims were two men, two women, one male child, and one female child.
Emergency teams from TRACE and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) quickly responded to the scene. The injured passengers were rushed to the General Hospital in Ifo for treatment, while the deceased were taken to the hospital morgue.
Akinbiyi noted that the tragic accident serves as yet another reminder of the dangers of tyre bursts on Nigerian highways, urging drivers to always check their tyres, avoid overspeeding, and maintain strict road safety practices.
This heartbreaking incident adds to the rising cases of fatal road crashes in Nigeria, highlighting the urgent need for both safer vehicles and stricter road safety awareness.
