Rwanda defeated already-qualified Nigeria 1-2 on Monday in an Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier thanks to an outstanding performance.

The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo served as the venue for the game. As the victors of Group D going into the match, the Super Eagles were already guaranteed a spot in the tournament. At 59th minute, Samuel Chukwueze gave Nigeria (three-time African champions) a lead with excellent solo goal before the visitors replied with two goals.

The Rwandans pulled off their first-ever victory over Nigeria thanks to the two swift goals from Ange Mutsinzi and Innocent Nshuti.

Despite the win, the Rwandans did not make it out of the AFCON qualifications as they fell short to Benin Republic who picked the group’s second ticket
