The Delta State Police Command has detained Blessing Ibuku, a nursing mother, in connection with the suspected murder of Prevail Jonathan, her 10-month-old kid. On November 31, 2024, the suspect admitted to the police that she had thrown her infant into the river.
This was said by CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, during a news conference on Tuesday, December 17 in Asaba.
He revealed the police received a report on December 4, 2024, regarding a missing 10-month-old infant named Prevail. Police were notified that a youngster had been discovered floating in the Aviara community river, according to the CP, who was at the station with Blessing.
He said that the body of the missing child was found when the deceased baby was taken to the station.
During the inquiry, the suspect admitted, according to the police CP, that she tossed the kid away because her friends and other girls were making fun of her for having a child without a father.
Following that, the police chief stated that the suspect would be arraigned in court as soon as possible.
