Anambra: Police Arrest Nine Suspects Involved In Justice Azuka’s Murder

At a press briefing on Friday, Anambra State Police Commissioner Nnaghe Itam confirmed that nine suspects who were involved in the murder of Justice Azuka had been arrested and detained.

Nine suspects were reportedly “actively involved” in the murder of Justice Azuka, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, on Thursday, according to the Anambra State Police Command, which said that its officers and state vigilante officers made the arrest.

Following their arrest, the Police Commissioner revealed that two pump action weapons had been found on the suspects. He also mentioned that one of the suspects had been shot in the leg during a gunfight with the police officers.

According to the CP, the following suspects have been arrested: Ugochukwu Onuorah, 30, Ikemefuna Ossai, 20, Ikenna Orugu, 27, Chibuike Obiefuna, 19, Chinonso Olisa, 19, Chinedu Okoli, 21, David Ojini, 25, and the most infamous of them, Peter Sunday, 20, who has a large tattoo on his chest that reads, “No peace, 4 d Government.”

He thanked Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector-General of Police, for his leadership and general assistance. He also thanked Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, sister agencies, the media, the people of the state, Anambra State Vigilante operatives, civil society groups, organizations, and many others for their unwavering support during his months as the state’s commissioner of police.

He promised that residents’ trust in the police and other security forces to defend their lives and property should not be taken for granted.
