Motorcyclist Fatally Attacked by Suspected Bike Thieves in Ondo

A commercial motorcyclist, Nazifi Ibrahim, has been killed in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, in an attack believed to be carried out by motorcycle thieves.

Ibrahim, who was originally from Northern Nigeria, was reportedly transporting a passenger to Alafia Street in Ore when he was ambushed and murdered by unidentified attackers. His motorcycle was stolen during the incident.

Local witnesses said the incident occurred around 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday night. The news has caused considerable anxiety in the community, especially among fellow motorcyclists, who described Ibrahim as a familiar and well-liked figure. One resident said, “Nobody knows exactly what happened between him and the attackers before he was shot.”

A police officer, who spoke anonymously, confirmed the killing and said efforts were underway to track down the perpetrators.

In an official statement, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, said: “The incident in Ore was reported to us, and the Divisional Police Officer and his team immediately visited the location. They found the victim’s body at the scene. According to an eyewitness, his motorcycle had been stolen.”

He added that a full investigation has been launched, and a manhunt is in progress. The victim has since been buried according to Islamic customs.
