Khaby Lame, the world’s most-followed TikTok star, was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents on June 6, 2025, at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. The 25-year-old Senegalese-Italian influencer, known for his silent comedic videos that simplify overly complicated “life hacks,” had overstayed his visa after entering the United States on April 30, 2025. He had attended the Met Gala in New York and participated in various promotional events during his stay.
ICE confirmed that Lame was released the same day and granted voluntary departure, allowing him to leave the country without a deportation order, which could have barred him from re-entering the U.S. for up to 10 years. This resolution avoids a permanent mark on his immigration record.
The incident gained further attention when Bo Loudon, an 18-year-old conservative influencer claiming to be a close friend of Barron Trump, publicly stated that he had reported Lame’s immigration status to ICE. Loudon alleged that Lame was “an illegal alien evading taxes,” though he admitted he never watched Lame’s content and incorrectly labeled him as “far-left.” Loudon also stated that his industry contacts flagged Lame’s visa status, and he used his political connections to expedite the deportation.

Khaby Lame rose to fame during the COVID-19 pandemic with his iconic, wordless videos that humorously simplify everyday situations. His content transcends language barriers, earning him over 162 million followers on TikTok and making him a global social media icon.
Despite the controversy surrounding his detention, Lame has not publicly commented on the incident. He continues to post content unrelated to the deportation, maintaining his presence as a leading figure in the digital entertainment world.
This event has sparked discussions about the intersection of celebrity, immigration policies, and political influence, raising questions about the motivations behind such enforcement actions.
