Legendary Fuji artist, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has publicly denied allegations of misconduct during a recent incident at an airport involving staff of ValueJet Airlines. The episode, which took place on Monday, August 5, sparked online buzz and media reports suggesting that the music icon breached aviation protocols, causing flight disruptions.
However, in an official statement released by his media aide, Kunle Rasheed, the claims were described as “exaggerated, misleading, and lacking context.” According to Rasheed, the misunderstanding stemmed from a bottle of water given to K1 in the VIP lounge, which he attempted to take with him while boarding. Contrary to reports of aggressive behaviour, the statement asserts that K1 sought only to clarify the airline’s policy regarding the water but was met with hostility and an unnecessary escalation by airport personnel.
“At no point did K1 engage in any action that compromised safety or violated aviation rules,” Rasheed emphasized. “As someone who travels frequently, K1 is well aware of, and compliant with, all aviation protocols.”
The statement also disclosed that senior executives at ValueJet, including the airline’s Chairman and Managing Director, personally contacted the Fuji star to offer apologies for the way the situation was handled. They reportedly offered him a complimentary private jet flight to Lagos, which K1 graciously declined, choosing instead to maintain his dignity and composure.
Eyewitnesses and fellow passengers reportedly supported K1’s calm conduct during the ordeal, with some even intervening to de-escalate tensions.
In a new twist, sources within the aviation sector revealed that the pilot involved in the matter has had her license temporarily suspended, pending internal investigation. K1’s camp suggests that blame-shifting may be at play, as some parties try to deflect from the airline’s mismanagement of the situation.
“We urge the media and the public to avoid jumping to conclusions,” the statement concluded. “Let’s allow the facts and the truth—not viral speculation—to guide public opinion.”
K1 De Ultimate is said to be fully cooperating with aviation authorities as they continue their investigation into the incident. As of now, no formal charges or sanctions have been filed against him, and the airline has yet to issue an official public statement regarding the internal disciplinary actions taken.
