INEC Declares APC’s governor Aiyedatiwa winner of 2024 governorship election.
Having secured 366,781 votes to defeat his closest rival, Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the incumbent governor Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared winner of the Ondo State gubernatorial governorship election conducted yesterday.
Aiyedatiwa won the election flawlessly as he claimed victory in all 18 LGAs of the State. The 18 LGAs are Ifedore, Ondo East, Ileoluji Oke-Igbo, Idanre, Irele, Akoko South West, Owo, Ondo West, Akoko South East, Akoko North West, Ose, Akoko North East, Akure South, Akure North, Okitipupa, Odigbo, Ilaje and Ese Odo.
Prior to this, other party’s representatives voiced grave worries about widespread irregularities, including ballot box snatching and vote buying.
Furthermore, they claimed that voting didn’t take place in some remote areas especially some areas in Idanre. Citing these grievances, a PDP agent attached to the aforementioned local government area formally requested that the results area be nullified.
But without further ado, the State Returning Officer, Professor Olayemi Durotimi Akinwunmi of the Federal University Lokoja representing INEC, announced Aiyedatiwa as the winner of the election.
It’s crystal clear that Aiyedatiwa has returned back to reclaim Ondo State seat of power.
