
Health officials report 19 people killed by Israeli attacks in Southern Gaza.
According to local health officials, Israeli airstrikes in southern Gaza over night killed at least 19 Palestinians, including eight children.
According to reports, a couple and their kids perished in the neighboring city of Khan Younis, while a mother and her four kids perished when a tent camp for displaced people in al-Mawasi was struck.
The Israeli military claimed to have carried out multiple attacks on Hamas fighters involved in the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel that started the war in Gaza.
There were also reports of deadly attacks in central and northern Gaza; according to the health ministry administered by Hamas, 51 people had been killed in the last 24 hours throughout the region.
The Hamas-run Civil Defense agency in the north reports that the dead of at least six individuals, including a newborn, were found in two damaged homes in Gaza City.
According to medics, a strike in the central town of Deir al-Balah killed three individuals, while another infant died in the nearby urban Bureij refugee camp.

An urgent request for fuel to run the generators at hospitals in the south was also made by Gaza’s health ministry. It issued a warning that hundreds of patients’ lives would be in jeopardy if the generators failed within hours.
It happened as the Middle East envoy for US President-elect Donald Trump reported that “a lot of progress” had been made in indirect negotiations on a ceasefire and hostage release agreement in Qatar.
At a press conference in Florida on Tuesday, Stephen Witkoff announced that he would shortly visit Doha to participate in the talks facilitated by US, Qatari, and Egyptian officials.
“I’m really hopeful that by the inaugural, we’ll have some good things to announce on behalf of the president,” he stated.
Meanwhile, before taking office on January 20, Trump reiterated his warning that “all hell will break out in the Middle East” if Hamas does not free the 100 captives it still has.

Israel and Hamas have accused one another of impeding efforts to reach an agreement.
Following an attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023, in which around 1,200 people were killed and 251 others were taken captive, Israel began a mission to eradicate the organization.
Since then, the health ministry in Gaza has reported that over 45,930 people have died there.
