In a London derby against Fulham at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea experienced a shocking defeat, with Rodrigo Muniz scoring the game-winning goal in stoppage time. The Cottagers came from behind to gift their visitors unbearable Christmas present.
After just fifteen minutes, Cole Palmer opened the scoring with an incredibly accurate, well-placed strike from outside the box, giving Enzo Maresca’s team the lead. The team’s goal was to keep Liverpool at the top of the Premier League.
Marco Silva’s team looked much better after the break, but they were unable to build on their lead despite controlling long portions.
Chelsea still appeared to be winning until the last ten minutes, when two substitutes made the difference: Harry Wilson headed in from close range, and Muniz finished off a counterattack with a coolly taken effort, ending the match well past the ninety-minute mark and giving the Cottagers their first victory at Stamford Bridge since 1979.
After losing, the next games will decide whether Chelsea can bounce back and challenge Liverpool for the title race.
