Former British Prison Officer Jailed for 15 Months After Viral ‘Workout’ Video with Inmate

A former British prison guard was sentenced to 15 months in prison after a viral “workout” video featuring an inmate.

Linda De Sousa Abreu, a former prison guard at HMP Wandsworth in the United Kingdom, was caught on camera having sex with an inmate and was given a 15-month prison sentence.

After the video went viral online and received a lot of attention, senior staff members identified Abreu, 30.

Abreu, who was arrested at Heathrow Airport while trying to board a trip to Madrid with her father, had previously entered a guilty plea to misconduct in public service, according to the BBC.

The incident happened at Wandsworth Prison from June 26 to June 28. The court also heard that Abreu’s prison-issued body-worn camera showed her performing a sexy act with the same inmate in a second video.

She acknowledged having sex with the inmate once more. The viral video, according to Judge Martin Edmunds KC, was a part of a pattern of recurring behavior rather than a single incident.

“While the vast majority of Prison Service employees are honest and diligent, we’re catching more of the small minority who break the rules by strengthening our vetting procedures and bolstering our Counter Corruption Unit,” a Prison Service representative stated.

As evidenced by today’s sentencing, we won’t think twice about taking strong action when officers do not meet our high standards.
