To commemorate Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day, respectively, the Federal Government of Nigeria has designated Wednesday, December 25, 2024, Thursday, December 26, 2024, and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, as public holidays.
In a statement signed by Permanent Secretary Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Interior Minister Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo made the announcement on behalf of the Federal Government and encouraged all Nigerians to take advantage of the festive season to consider the values of love, peace, and unity that it represents.
The season is a time to promote unity and reinforce links between families and communities, Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized.
The minister also urged Nigerians to continue to be dedicated to the country’s peace, unity, and advancement for the sake of national growth. “The Christmas season is a terrific time for national regeneration and spiritual introspection.
Let us show compassion and goodwill to each other, regardless of our differences, as we commemorate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace,” Dr. Tunji-Ojo remarked.
He gave the people his word that the Federal Government would always work to maintain national peace, security, and prosperity.
The minister said he was confident that President Tinubu’s administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda will bring about a better and more prosperous economy that will be the envy of the world in 2025, while also wishing Nigerians a happy Christmas.
