According to local officials, a passenger plane carrying roughly 70 people crashed in Kazakhstan, killing many people. At least 30 people survived, according to authorities in Azerbaijan, the country where the flight originated.
When Azerbaijan Airlines flight J2-8243 tried to make an emergency landing close to the Kazakh city of Aktau, it caught fire. It was reported that fog caused the plane to be diverted from its intended route to Grozny, Russia.
With its landing gear down, the plane is seen on camera speeding toward the earth before exploding into flames as it touches down. The aircraft “made an emergency landing” just 3 kilometers (1.9 miles) from Aktau, according to the airline.

According to data from the flight-tracking website Flightradar24, it took off Wednesday at 03:55 GMT from Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, and crashed at 06:28. It has not yet been verified, but Russian media reports claim the plane struck a flock of birds before crashing.
Various figures for the number of people on board and those who survived have been reported by officials from the participating nations. There were 72 people on board the Embraer 190, according to the airline, although there were only 62 passengers and 5 staff members. Between 28 and 32 survivors have been reported.
There were some people from Russia, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, but the majority of the passengers were from Azerbaijan. Unconfirmed video footage showed survivors, some clearly injured, climbing out of the debris.
Investigations into the disaster have been started in Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. Being “ready to assist all relevant authorities” was what Embraer reported. Brazilian manufacturer Embraer has a solid safety record and is a minor competitor to Boeing and Airbus.
